The European Banking Institute (EBI) and Frankfurt School of Finance and Management have jointly established and strategically manage the Master in EU Banking and Financial Regulation (EBI), which awards a Master of Laws (LLM) degree. EU Banking & Financial Regulation Master (EBI) students will gain the skills and expertise necessary to succed in all banking and financial regulation fields.
This programme offers courses on the following subjects: foundations of financial systems, financial regulation and accounting, financial markets in crisis, consumer protection and behavioural economics, institutional and substantive aspects of banking regulation and supervision, bank crisis prevention and management, capital markets regulation and supervision, insurance regulation and supervision, central banking policies (including monetary policy and macroprudential oversight), as well as ESG in the financial system.

Ideal Candidates
The EBI Master is a part-time programme with a unique structure that permits simultaneous work and study. Lectures are held outside of working hours, allowing students to take advantage of full-time employment opportunities. Ideal candidates for the Master in EU Banking and Financial Regulation (EBI) are young professionals with a first academic degree in law, economics, business administration, or similar fields of study. Applicants without experience in law are welcome to apply, with the knowledge they must take a pre-course with relevant law content (offered by the EBI and Frankfurt School prior to the programme start).

Requirements
First academic degree in law, economics, or business administration (or equivalent)
- with minimum 210 ECTS, or
- 180 ECTS and one year of relevant work experience, or
- 180 ECTS and additional work during the programme
Excellent written and spoken English (TOEFL 90, IELTS 7.0, or equivalent)
Successful admissions interview
If the interview indicates the applicant requires further basics in law, we invite candidates to attend the programme pre-course with relevant law content.

EBI conferences and seminars promote the dialogue among scholars, regulators, supervisors, industry representatives and advisors in relation to issues concerning the regulation and supervision of financial institutions and financial markets from a legal, economic and any other related viewpoint.
The EU Banking Cases Collection enhances the transparency of the cases pending before, or decided by, the Union Courts in the area of the EU banking union and to offer a tool to academics and practitioners.
The Master of EU Banking & Financial Regulation (EBI) curriculum consists of eight mandatory modules and two mandatory elective modules. The programme concludes with a master thesis, where students apply the knowledge gained throughout their studies. Students without previous work experience (i.e. students with an LLB, BSc, BA) have the option to begin employment as a working student or trainee, or will be required to participate in an internship.

Master Thesis
Students will write their thesis from October to December.
This part-time programme follows a blended model of evening lectures online and on-campus lectures, which allows students to continue working full-time alongside their studies. Students attend in-person classes on the FS campus one weekend per month, and two (occasionally three) online evening courses three weeks per month. There is always enough time between modules to prepare for exams and go on holiday.

The final decision regarding your Master of EU Banking and Financial Regulation (EBI) admission is based on a combination of undergraduate grades, work experience, English language abilities, and interview performance.
We also take into account other significant life experiences, awards, or commitments, such as internships, international touchpoints, and volunteer projects.
