Since the early 1990s, the International Advisory Services team of Frankfurt School has been committed to improving financial markets and increasing access to financial services worldwide. To achieve this, we design and implement consulting and training programmes and conduct applied research on finance and management topics.
Our partners include international and development finance institutions (e.g. ADB, AFD, AfDB, AIID, EBRD, EIB group, FMO, KfW group, World Bank group), bilateral and multilateral donor organisations (e.g. BMU, BMZ, EC, EU, GIZ, UNDP, UNEP), as well as non-government organisations.
Our clients are primarily financial institutions (Development Banks, Banks and MFIs) and their beneficiaries (MSMEs, low-income populations), regulators, training institutions, investors and other stakeholders of the financial community.
We also work with innovative players such as Fintechs and solar home system providers and partner directly with financial institutions (e.g. Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Yapi Kredi Bank in Turkey) to provide tailored trainings and capacity building services.
We offer a wide spectrum of customised technical assistance to meet our clients’ evolving needs. In each of our thematic areas of expertise, we support our partners and clients by assembling an experienced team of experts with the necessary know-how to fulfil the objectives of each assignment. Our core service offerings focus on our three pillars - Advisory, Training & Education, and Research & Policy:

What sets us apart is our strong service orientation - "going the extra mile" is a standard we follow to establish open dialogue between all parties to ensure project success. We are often involved not only at the stage of project design but in the entire project cycle and provide support from concept development throughout implementation and closing. We take a hands-on approach in project implementation, which is driven by excellent results and sustainability for the future.
Based on our experience providing technical assistance in the context of economic crises, natural disasters and armed conflicts, as well as the situation analysis conducted with partner institutions worldwide, our expert team developed a conceptual framework for the Frankfurt School COVID-19 Crisis Response for SMEs and Financial Institutions.
Frankfurt School’s COVID-19 Crisis Response helps businesses and financial institutions in emerging markets take care of client needs, keep staff healthy and productive and more generally 'keep the lights on' during the most severe business disruption in generations.
Our approach is anchored in a rapid but rigorous assessment of the nature, severity and expected duration of the disruption to your business, followed by a mitigation strategy to ensure operational continuity during lockdown and a plan for the post-crisis phase.
Find out more about our framework, the services we offer and current project references on our Frankfurt School COVID-19 Crisis Response dedicated page.
