MBA for Executives in Kinshasa

This MBA is designed for experienced business executives who aim to deepen their management expertise, boost their leadership skills and expand their networks across industries. Students benefit from the knowledge and experience of our international faculty and will be prepared for the demands of a globalised business world.

Learning Goals

LG1: In-depth knowledge and understanding of general management, the implications of global perspectives on local management decisions, as well as business acumen.

Graduates will draw upon deep or expanded functional knowledge and broad, detailed and critical understanding of specifics, limitations and doctrines in business administration to shape responses and independent ideas to business and research opportunities and challenges.

LG 2:  Analytical and critical thinking skills combining analysis, judgment and creativity to generate innovative solutions and make balanced strategic decisions in global and local environments.

Graduates will base their decisions and strategies on critical and multidimensional analysis of different markets and various professional and scientific sources in a challenging international and local business environment. For that, they will apply appropriate methods (qualitative and quantitative) from relevant management disciplines.

LG 3: Effective executive communication, collaboration and cooperation skills.

Graduates will be integrative and effective communicators and team leaders. They will write, present, discuss and defend research and evidence-based findings in interdisciplinary fields. Graduates will contribute to team performance.

LG 4: Responsible, inspirational and ethical leaders of teams and organizations.

Graduates are self-aware and mindful leaders with the character needed for leading in any organisational or cultural context and the global environment. They decide and act based on ethical considerations, comply with regulatory requirements, and enhance the well-being of their stakeholders, organizations, society and the environment.

Requirements

  • Hold a first degree (Bachelor or equivalent, i.g. Licence Bac +5)
  • Have a work experience of at least three years which includes adequate management experience i.e. personnel, budget and/or strategic project responsibility.
  • Proficiency in English (B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)). This criterion can be waived for the following reasons: native English speaker, having completed a previous degree in English, having lived and worked over one year in an English- speaking country, working in a company where the corporate language is English or can otherwise prove the English proficiency (TOEFL iBT minimum 72 or IELTS minimum 6.5 score report).
  • Participate in the Assessment Center, which includes an interview and test.
  • The final admission decision is based on a combined assessment of the criteria above and lies with the Programme Director, in critical cases in agreement with the Academic Director.
  • The admission of participants without a first academic degree is regulated in § 3 (4) of the General Course and Examination Regulations of Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.

The optional pre-courses in Finance & Accounting are aimed to students who do not have prior experience of business administration or who feel they need a refresher.

It provides students with the knowledge they need to address the upcoming Finance & Accounting modules and includes the principles of capital budgeting, the basic knowledge required to assess companies’ financial situations, and the basic principles of financial reporting in conformance with national and international standards.

Managing in Africa

Africa needs an entrepreneurial environment for long-term success. This module explores general management skills for running a business, analyzing firm functions, and promoting entrepreneurship. It provides practical guidance and dispels myths, emphasizing the mindset needed for managerial success in creating livelihoods and pursuing passions.

Global Business Environment

Global Business Environment

This module explores the impact of the global economy on financial systems and industries. It addresses current economic questions using scientific methods, focusing on macroeconomic issues like the business cycle, fiscal and monetary policy, and the 'globalization paradox.' It highlights the rise of Sub-Saharan Africa and China regionally.

Strategy & Marketing

This module explores strategy development, emphasizing markets and the changing political and economic landscape in the DRC and Sub-Saharan region. It covers strategic management theories, corporate governance, legal factors, and technology challenges. It also focuses on marketing concepts like segmentation, pricing, logistics, customer analysis, and communications, fostering proactive thinking and an interconnected perspective.

This module deepens participants' understanding of financial decision-making techniques and data analysis in corporate finance and accounting. The second part covers internal and external accounting, including OHADA, incorporating major concepts.

This module explores the vital link between business ethics and human resources management. This module provides an overview of the German economy and examines the significance of German SMEs (Mittelstand). Through case studies and site visits, participants explore challenges, trends, and success factors of globally operating German SMEs. The module emphasizes innovation, customer focus, operational excellence, and the importance of continuous strategic transformation in a dynamic global business landscape.

The SIGMA Challenge simulates managing a growing international company. It evolves the company's strategy in the local market from selling imported products to local assembly and establishment, including manufacturing. Further development relies on seizing market opportunities and adapting to changes.

The Individual Leadership Coaching Module aims to support you in reflecting on and resolving individual leadership issues while enhancing your leadership skills. The Lean Startup Bootcamp

Launching a startup: In just 5 (very intense) days students will be

teamed up in entrepreneurial teams, ideate a B2C solution to an existing problem, create the value proposition, build a first landing-page MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that will go live in the www, design and setup A/B-tests, create Facebook or similar ad campaigns to get traffic on your website.

MBA Thesis

MBA Thesis

The culmination of the MBA programme is the master’s thesis. It applies an action learning approach and offers students of the programme the option of basing their master’s thesis on the management issues in their business environment or integrated management projects.

Application Process

1. Online Application

The first step of our application process is to complete the online application form. You will need to upload the following supporting documents:

  • Copy of your transcript of records and degree award certificate
  • CV or resume (in English)
  • Proof of English profiency if available (i.g. TOEFL iBT minimum 72 or IELTS minimum 6.5 score report)
  • Other documentation supporting professional experience or other extracurricular activities, if applicable
2. Assessment Centre: Admission Test, English Test and Interview

Successful applicants will be invited to an assessment centre consisting of an admission test, an English test and an interview. The paper-based tests will take place at UPC in Kinshasa. The interview will be held either over the phone or online. The purpose of the interview is to gain a better understanding of your character, personality, expectations, motivations and goals.

English Waiver

Proficiency in English (B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR)). Your two-week stay in Frankfurt

Meet managers, academics, and MBA students from Frankfurt, broaden your intercultural skills through local exposure, and benefit from the atmosphere of Frankfurt School's world-class campus in the financial hub of Germany. During your two-week stay on campus in Frankfurt, you will learn about "Management Made in Germany" and get individual leadership coa­ching.

Frankfurt School cooperates closely with the Uni­versité Protestante au Congo (UPC) in Kinshasa. Frankfurt School has been working with the UPC for over a decade in various programmes and projects in the DRC. In February 2018, Frankfurt School started the MBA for Executives in Kinshasa. Classes in Kinshasa take place either at the campus of UPC or in the Pullman Hotel, both centrally loca­ted in the DRCs capital.
