Project Overview

The Climate Action Support Facility promotes the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) lending for Climate Action investments by supporting Partner Financial Institutions (PFIs) in the European Union (EU), the Western Balkans and the EU’s Southern and Eastern Neighbourhoods.

In this context, the Facility also promotes the EIB’s lending for Climate Action by supporting financial intermediaries to make investments in climate change mitigation and adaptation in all four regions.

Frankfurt School leads a Consortium that has been selected to implement, through specific calls, support packages that assist EIB’s lending for Climate Action investments.

The Project activities focus on the following:

  • Assist PFIs to build pipelines and issue loans that promote climate change mitigation and adaptation, including Energy Assessment/Audits, Resource Efficiency Assessments/Audits, Water Assessment/Audits, and Climate Vulnerability Assessments for clients;
  • Provide trainings for PFI staff on policy frameworks and sectoral aspects of climate action investments; and,
  • Support PFI to integrate eligibility checks of climate action into their own systems.

The implementation of support packages will ensure an increased role of the financial sector in supporting a low carbon and climate resilient development across the regions.
