Dumplings from China, spicy samosas from La Réunion, and Sabich from Israel – on Wednesday, 13 November, 2019, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management celebrated its International Day. Students from 13 countries: Argentina, China, Ecuador, France, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Poland, Russia, Spain, Sweden and Taiwan prepared food and drinks for the guests. Furthermore students from La Réunion, an overseas department of France, participated.
Abla Serghini Anbari, a French Moroccan Master of Finance Student at Frankfurt School, represented La Réunion. She wanted to show the other students the healthy and tasty food of the island. “Because I have a lot of personal contacts on La Réunion, I have travelled to the island several times. I have always liked the lifestyle there and especially the food. Hence, together with other students from this beautiful place I wanted to show how healthy the food is”. The group prepared four dishes for the event. “We have prepared Samosas with cheese and with chicken – both with a lot of spices from La Réunion. Also, we offer bean donuts with mashed beans and sugar on top. The fourth dish is manioc chips”, explains Abla Serghini Anbari.
Yehonathan Derfel who is an exchange student in the Bachelor of Science at Frankfurt School comes from Israel and prepared Sabich for the International Day – a pita bread stuffed with fried eggplant, hard boiled eggs, tahini, humus and salad. “The event is a good opportunity to present Israeli cusisine. Sabich is a very tasty and popular dish all over Israel”, emphasises the student.
A survey gave all the guests of International Day the chance to vote for the best food, the best decoration as well as the most authentic outfit. The result: The most delicious food was prepared by China. Spain had the most sophisticated decoration and the students from Italy wore the most authentic clothes.
