Frankfurt School will award over 45 Deutschlandstipendium scholarships in 2020/21

In 2011, the Frankfurt School was one of the very first German universities to participate in the Deutschlandstipendium, a scholarship programme initiated by the German government.  Each award pays a monthly amount of 300 euros to each scholarship holder for a year. In particular, in these difficult times, the Frankfurt School believes it is important to provide as many eligible students from Germany and abroad as possible with financial support.

Every euro donated to the Frankfurt School is match-funded by the German federal government, meaning that each student receives 3,600 euros per academic year in the form of a grant to help cover living costs. This is especially important in view of the dual aim of the scholarship award: to encourage and support not just good academic performance, but also voluntary and community work.

Once again, a large number of benefactors have donated to this year’s programme. The Frankfurt School is enormously grateful to them all for their generous contributions.

Firstly, the FS Alumni Association has donated 15 scholarships; the association has been involved in supporting the programme since the latter was first launched nine years ago. As well as the Alumni Association, the Marga Coing-Stiftung, J. Safra Sarasin Bank, Deutsche Vermögensberatung, Frankfurter Sparkasse, DZ BANK Stiftung, ING-DiBa AG, Albert und Barbara von Metzler-Stiftung, Dr Jutta Buscha-Hagenmüller, Rainer Neske, Dr Matthias Zieschang, Dr Horst Müller, Dr Lutz R. Raettig, Nikola Kopp, Oliver Kopp, Frank Krauthäuser, Kirsten Krauthäuser have also been supporting scholarships for several years. For the 2020/21 academic year, a number of new alumni have come onboard in support of the programme, including Silvia Schmitten-Walgenbach, Andy Hamer, Oliver Bader, Jörg Hessenmüller, Hofäcker, Matthias Holfeld, Sascha Klaus, Sebastian Merkhoffer (Fitvia GmbH) and Michael and Gloria Pfaue. Dr Dennis Schmoltzi, co-founder and CEO of Emma – The Sleep Company, which employs several Frankfurt School alumni, also wants to give back and has kindly donated three scholarships.
