“It was important for me to learn business skills alongside competing, so that I can go on to have a successful career in both sport and business,” Sönke Rothenberger tells the US business magazine Forbes in an interview. “I found myself being able to deal with the nerves of handling a tough exam in the same way I dealt with competing in sport.” In 2016, he won the gold medal in team dressage at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. It was his first ever participation in the Olympics. At the time, the then 21-year-old was studying for a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Frankfurt School. He graduated in 2017. In the article "From gold medals to Graduation Gowns", Forbes portrays (former) Olympic champions who studied at business schools.
