Klaus Rosenfeld Schaeffler

Frankfurt am Main, 27.04.2022 12:00:00

Frankfurt School welcomed Klaus Rosenfeld, CEO of Schaeffler AG, as a guest speaker at the FS event series "In the Boardroom". Host Dr Barbara Drexler, Programme Director Executive MBA, and Stephanie Kutschmann, Programme Manager MBA, at Frankfurt School were delighted to welcome around 80 participants from the Executive MBA programmes. The event format provides students with first-hand insights into the work of board members of large companies.

Klaus Rosenfeld's career provides plenty of inspiration for aspiring managers. In 2009, he moved from Dresdner Bank, where he was CFO for 7 years, to the Schaeffler Group, a global automotive and industrial supplier with around 83,000 employees worldwide, which he leads as CEO since June 2014. The products of the Schaeffler Group, one of the largest listed German family-owned companies, include high-precision components and systems for engine, transmission, and chassis applications as well as rolling and plain bearing solutions for a large number of industrial applications.

"Almost every second wind turbine across the globe contains a Schaeffler bearing. Highest quality and precision are required in the production. Only very few companies in the world are able to do that”, explained Klaus Rosenfeld. Sustainability is thus not only a central goal for Schaeffler – a climate neutral supply chain by 2040 has been set as target – but also an important market with increasing potential.

The event offered the students plenty of room for questions. Perhaps the most unexpected answer was given by Klaus Rosenfeld to the question of what is particularly relevant for a successful career: "One of the most important factors for professional success is that your family life is intact", said Rosenfeld.

The event concluded with snacks and drinks in the Campus Lounge, providing the opportunity for further exchange and networking.
