Frankfurt am Main, 25.11.2022 12:00:00

The Climate Change Conference COP27 was recently concluded in Sharm el-Sheikh. Frankfurt School was represented by two colleagues – Annette Detken and Arun Rana, presenting the activities of Frankfurt School in the area of climate risk analysis and climate risk finance.

On 14th November 2022, the German Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze and HE Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change, announced the approval of Pakistan as first partner country of the Global Risk Modelling Alliance Programme (GRMA) of the InsuResilience Solutions Fund managed by Frankfurt School. The GRMA provides capacity building for climate-vulnerable countries in climate and disaster risk analytics. As a PPP initiative the GRMA is implemented by a joint team of risk finance experts of the private sector and Frankfurt School.

A new initiative launched by the G7 states and the Vulnerable 20 (V20) countries initiative at COP27 is the Global Shield against climate risk. The GRMA has been identified as a key resource for this initiative, particularly during initial in-country risk assessments and subsequent capacity building in the selected first partner countries.

Annette Detken and Arun Rana also represented Frankfurt School in an official COP27 side event and organised a session on the GRMA Programme informing on the Frankfurt School´s trainings and capacity building in the area of climate finance and climate risk analysis.
