Frankfurt am Main, 27.11.2023 12:00:00

For many women and girls, physical or sexual violence is part of their everyday life — whether at home or on the street. Current statistics show, that the number of cases of domestic violence against women in Hesse also rose again last year.

With the "International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women" on 25 November, the United Nations are once again drawing attention to this global issue. The day of action is committed to combating all forms of violence against girls and women. To this end, campaigns were held around the world, including Frankfurt.

Under the motto "Orange your City", over 20 buildings in Frankfurt, including the Old Opera House, the Historical Museum, St Paul's Church and the ECB, were illuminated in orange on the day of action. Frankfurt School also took part once again sending out a symbol against violence against women and girls. From 17:00 to 21:00, the Präsidialbau was illuminated in orange.

The actions in Frankfurt were carried out by the Women's Department in cooperation with two Frankfurt Zonta Clubs and other women's networks.
