Scholarship Ceremony

At its traditional annual Scholarship Ceremony on 2 November, Frankfurt School awarded 285 scholarships to students from its Bachelor's and Master's programmes. Around one third of the scholarships were made possible by the generous support of Frankfurt School’s donors.

The evening was hosted by Aigerim Bolat, Programme Manager of the Master in Management. Professor Nils Stieglitz, President and CEO of Frankfurt School, took the opportunity to personally congratulate the scholarship recipients and presented the President's Scholarship.

A panel discussion moderated by Angelika Werner, Vice President Strategic Relations at Frankfurt School, offered personal insights into the donors’ motivation. Under the motto “What difference can a scholarship and higher education make?”, four major Frankfurt School scholarship donors explained their motivations – Oliver Kopp, FS Alumnus & Member of the Board, Frankfurt School Alumni e.V.; Professor Klaus-Peter Müller, Honorary Chair of the Board of Trustees, Frankfurt School, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Commerzbank-Foundation and Honorary Chair of the Commerzbank; Martina Neske, Founder and CFO of CHOM CAPITAL; Silvia Schmitten, FS Alumna and Chair of the Advisory Board of Frankfurt School.

Following the panel discussion, the different scholarship programmes at Frankfurt School were presented, and the scholarships handed over. Klaus-Peter Müller kicked off with the scholarships which he personally initiated and sponsored. Professor Zieschang, CFO of Fraport AG, presented the “Deutschlandstipendien” on behalf of a large number of donors. The DAAD scholarships were followed by the presentation of the FIRM scholarship awards by Dr Carsten Lehr, Managing Director FIRM – Frankfurter Institut für Risikomanagement und Regulierung e.V., and the presentation of the Diversity Scholarships. The event concluded with the newly launched CHOM CAPITAL Sustainable Impact Diversity Scholarship, which was presented by Martina Neske.

Mana Farivar spoke on behalf of the students and thanked the donors in a moving speech: “I stand before you as Mana from Iran, a Master of Finance student and recipient of the Deutschlandstipendium and Hardship Fund scholarships. Just a year ago, the idea of studying at FS was nothing but a distant dream. Today, that dream has become reality. We cannot ignore the fact that we do not live in an equal world. I have seen instances where women have been discouraged from pursuing an education in male-dominated fields. The reason why I have an equal opportunity to study at one of the best business schools is your support. By investing in us today, you are empowering future contributors to society. There are many waiting for their chance to make a difference. On behalf of all the lives that have been impacted by your initiative, I would like to sincerely thank you.”

Concluding the official part of the ceremony, Angelika Werner expressed her heartfelt thanks for the commitment of the donors – this commitment is one of the best proofs that the idea of the Frankfurt School Community is filled with life.
