Founded in 1841 by two brothers, C&A contributed substantially to the democratization of attractive, affordable, ready-to-wear clothing for everyday people. It grew to become a popular European fashion brand with about 1,300 stores. However, online and offline competitors have been challenging established players like C&A: They revolutionized industry patterns by bringing new clothes to the stores almost monthly. The rise of online shopping, the impact of influencers or the demand for sustainable clothes are further developments putting traditional business models to the test.

Giny Boer was appointed CEO of C&A in January 2021. She has set about modernizing the C&A brand through the “One C&A Plan”. This entails putting C&A on the path of becoming a modern European omnichannel fashion retailer by expanding online activities while also implementing a comprehensive store modernization strategy. Giny is committed to setting new standards of sustainability in the fashion industry, and to help contribute to a more circular economy. We are honoured to welcome Giny at Frankfurt School:

Giny Boer was appointed as CEO of C&A Europe in January 2021, following more than two decades in senior leadership roles at IKEA. Giny holds a Master’s degree in Development Psychology from the University of Groningen and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hanze Hogeschool in Groningen.
