On 18 and 19 September 2025, the FS CaseCompetition took place at Deutsche Bank Park in cooperation with Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG. Generous support from the Frankfurt School's Friends Association made the project possible.
The format offered 25 students from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management the opportunity to work on a real strategic challenge facing Eintracht within 24 hours: further developing and monetising the EintrachtTV+ streaming service. The case study focused on three key questions:
• How can the existing EintrachtTV offering be developed to tap into new revenue potential?
• What annual revenues could be generated over the next five years through innovative pricing models?
• What marketing measures are suitable for increasing reach in existing and new target groups?
In preparation, all teams were given access to EintrachtTV+ to analyse the existing offering. They presented their results the following day to a jury of representatives from Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG and Frankfurt School Student Consulting GmbH (FS-SC). The presentations were evaluated according to the criteria of creativity, strategic fit & feasibility, structure and communication.
Gian Zinngrebe, Manager of the Executive Board Staff Unit at Eintracht Frankfurt, was impressed:
"The FS CaseCompetition was a great opportunity to bring students a step closer to Eintracht Frankfurt and to take away valuable ideas for us from the exciting results of the case study. The exchange with the teams showed how much potential there is in the next generation of leaders. We are delighted to promote such formats and inspire talented individuals to take on the challenges of tomorrow."
The participants were also enthusiastic about the combination of practical relevance and competition.
Michelle Lanin, a first-semester student, sums it up:
“A very exciting, thrilling and informative event that gave us an insight into a real case study with a really interesting partner.”
The winning team was awarded tickets to the Bundesliga derby between Eintracht Frankfurt and FSV Mainz 05. The event was complemented by an exclusive stadium tour, networking opportunities and professional photography.
The survey conducted afterwards confirmed the high quality of the format:
Participants rated the event with a recommendation rate of 9.4 out of 10 points. Event partner Eintracht Frankfurt received an outstanding rating of 9.6 out of 10 points. Particularly noteworthy: the perception of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG as a potential employer rose from 4.6 to 6.8 points.
The 25 participants consisted of bachelor's and master's students from various semesters (average grade point average: 1.65), including five female students. The interdisciplinary composition of the teams resulted in diverse perspectives on the strategic issue.
A variety of creative and realistic approaches were developed to strategically further develop the EintrachtTV+ offering. Among other things, new behind-the-scenes formats were proposed, such as weekly documentaries or video podcasts, which would give fans exclusive insights behind the scenes of the club and make the players more approachable. Other concepts focused on interactive formats and gamification elements, such as a digital fan game in which users can choose their own match day line-ups and compete against each other in real time. Ideas for stronger integration with social media, personalised content and strategies for expanding the long-form offering, from documentaries to youth and women's football content, were also presented.
The winning idea of an ‘Eagle Community,’ which integrates fans even more closely into the digital ecosystem of EintrachtTV+, was particularly convincing. Through personalised content, user-generated contributions and shared live experiences such as a ‘watch-along’ with fan comments, the platform is intended to become more of a home for Eintracht supporters. The jury particularly praised the high degree of innovation and the close connection to the club's strategic orientation.
The FS CaseCompetition 2025 impressively demonstrated how practice-oriented learning at the Frankfurt School and regional partnerships can go hand in hand. The close cooperation with Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG not only enabled students to work on real business management problems, but also to gain insights into the digital growth strategy of a leading sports company.
With a mix of analytical thinking, creativity and team spirit, the participants succeeded in developing innovative ideas for the future of EintrachtTV+. This is an example of how Frankfurt School Student Consulting GmbH actively shapes the transfer of knowledge between business and academia and inspires talented individuals to take on the challenges of tomorrow.
