Frankfurt School’s e-Campus – 15 years of global impact

This year, Frankfurt School’s e-Campus marks 15 years of empowering professionals around the world through flexible, practice-oriented online education. Since its launch in 2010, the e-Campus has grown into a globally recognised platform for high-quality learning in the fields of sustainable finance, financial inclusion, green finance, and development finance.

While the e-Campus initially focused on development finance, its curriculum has steadily evolved to reflect the rising global demand for sustainability expertise. Over the years, it has introduced a wide range of content on green finance and climate-related topics.

Key Milestones along the way

By the end of 2015, the e-Campus offered five Certified Expert online courses in English and one in French, all running twice per year. In 2016, a major leap forward came with the launch of the Master of Leadership in Development Finance—now known as the Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance—Frankfurt School’s first fully online degree, combining academic depth with practical application.

Today, the e-Campus offers a comprehensive portfolio of 18 Certified Expert online courses in English, alongside additional courses in French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese. Learners can also pursue three blended Diplomas and the fully online Master of Leadership in Sustainable Finance.

A thriving global community

Over the past 15 years, the e-Campus has built a strong, global alumni community of more than 16,000 professionals. This vibrant network engages both online and in person, with regular alumni events held on various locations worldwide over the year. The strength of this community reflects not only the quality of the programmes but also the passion and diversity of the team behind them. What started as a nearly one-person initiative has grown into a team of over 25 staff members representing more than 20 nationalities and speaking over 15 languages.

From its early days on a basic online system, the e-Campus has continuously embraced digital innovation. The platform has developed into a dynamic and interactive digital learning environment. Learners benefit from diverse video formats, live virtual sessions, blockchain-secured certificates, and fully digital exams.

Beyond its standard course offering, the Team behind the e-Campus also develops customised training programmes, workshops, and study tours across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. These initiatives are always hands-on and tailored to client needs, making a tangible difference for institutions and individuals alike.

As the e-Campus celebrates this milestone anniversary, its mission remains clear: to provide accessible, high-quality education that equips professionals across the globe with the tools and knowledge to address global sustainability challenges to provide a better future for all.
